Swan & Maclaren joins in celebration the Ground Breaking of Raffles Medical Extension Singapore
On December 1, 2015 the firm was proud to participate in the ground breaking ceremony officiated by Singapore’s Minister of Health Mr Gan Kim Yong alongside Raffles Medical Group Executive Chairman Dr Loo Choon Yong. The ceremony showcased the firm’s design via exhibition panels and a development model.
The extension building for which Swan & Maclaren has provide full architectural and interior consultancy services, will be 20-storey high with two basements, to be built at a cost of S$310 million. Combined with the existing North Bridge Road building the development almost doubles the size of its existing hospital facilities creating an integrated medical complex. The“one-stop medical hub” supports patient-centred and team-based care, alongside Raffles-Hospital’s programme for growth of its clinical services, teaching and research.
Minister Gan highlighted the importance of such projects for Singapore, noting that
“Raffles Hospital, its flagship facility, sees about 4,500 patients daily. About two thirds of them are residents. This provides another option for Singapore residents seeking medical treatment. “
