Lighting the Kingdom's first global theme park

Six Flags Qiddiya City is the first Six Flags destination built anywhere outside North America, and one of the founding attractions of Qiddiya, Saudi Arabia's vast entertainment city rising from the Tuwaiq Mountains outside Riyadh. A park of this ambition does not simply need to be lit. It needs to come alive after dark. We were appointed to deliver the integrated lighting across the destination, taking the work from design through to supply and installation.

The park unfolds across six distinct themed lands, each built around its own story, landscape, and emotional register. The central challenge of the lighting brief was to give every world a character entirely its own while holding the whole destination together as a single, coherent experience. The energy of a high thrill zone and the calm of a quieter, more immersive land ask for fundamentally different things from light. The lighting had to move fluidly between them without ever losing the thread.

Owning the full scope, from the first design sketch to the final fixture mounted on site, allowed the original intent to survive intact all the way to opening night. Nothing was lost in translation between designer, supplier, and installer because all three were the same hand. That continuity is what allows lighting at this scale to feel considered rather than assembled, deliberate in every land, every threshold, every transition a visitor passes through.

Six Flags Qiddiya City is designed to operate at full intensity long after the desert sun has set. The lighting is what makes that possible. It shapes the atmosphere of each themed land, guides visitors intuitively through a destination of enormous scale, and gives the park a presence after dark equal to its ambition by day. For a project carrying the weight of a nation's entertainment aspirations, the light had to be worthy of it.
