Designing the light for Southeast Asia's first electric karting circuit

HyperDrive Singapore is the region's first permanent, all-electric indoor karting circuit — a 10,000-square-metre facility located within The Palawan @ Sentosa. When the venue commissioned the illumination engineering scope, the brief called for lighting that would match the intensity of the experience.

Electric karting operates differently from traditional motorsport. The vehicles are quiet. The atmosphere has to be generated by other means — and lighting was central to the strategy. The design had to create a sense of drama and speed without compromising on functionality.

The lighting is zoned across the track, pit lane, spectator areas, and ancillary spaces. High-contrast lighting along the track emphasises speed and sharpens driver focus, while warmer tones in social areas create a lounge-like atmosphere for spectators.

HyperDrive Singapore is now operational and has quickly established itself as a flagship leisure destination. The illumination plays a defining role in the experience — proving that light, when designed with intent, can be as thrilling as the activity it supports.
